It is our sincere pleasure to recommend Magdalena (Magda) H. for a position as a childcare provider, either as an au pair, a nanny, or similar arrangement. We were fortunate to have Magda join our family in Washington, D.C., USA, as an au pair for over six months, January 2018 – July 2018. Magda loved our son, Luca, like he was her little brother. She spent full days (nine hours) with Luca during the week while we both worked full-time jobs. Magda worked closely with us in the beginning to identify age-appropriate learning and development activities for Luca, and very quickly she was coming up with new and creative ideas of her own that would bring such beautiful smiles and chuckles from our sweet infant boy. Magda would read to Luca, sing songs to him, and dance with him. There was no doubt in our mind that Magda loved Luca dearly, which was so comforting and calming to us as new parents. Just as Magda is like a big sister to Luca, she is like a daughter to us. Magda has a very warm heart and soul – she is kind and considerate, always respectful of our home and privacy but also not afraid to speak up to express her reasonable wants and needs. She is very articulate and we never had a problem communicating about her work schedule and activities with Luca. We enjoyed sharing daily meals with Magda and hearing about her dreams big and small. We would talk about life and wellness, arts and entertainment, and even religion and politics. Magda is very intelligent, and her English language proficiency is higher than many native English speakers here in the US. We know Magda speaks many other languages as well, including her mother language Polish and varying degrees of proficiency in Spanish, Russian, and German. In addition to her intellect, Magda possesses a great degree of self and situational awareness. She took Luca all over Washington, DC, so the two of them could explore the beauty of the capital; that meant navigating public transportation like trains and buses and the busy streets of DC, all with our precious infant. We trusted Magda completely; she provided us great peace of mind that our son was getting such an incredible experience and all the while allowing us to focus on our careers. We wished Magda could have stayed longer but her visa expired in July 2018 so we had to let her head home and open a new chapter of her life. We stay in touch with Magda frequently through social media and video chats, and we are very excited for her to next adventure. We are happy to provide any further reference information needed to anyone considering hiring Magda as a child care provider.
