Vanessa, profesor particular de inglés en Malaga

Hi, I'm Vanessa and I'm 32 years old originally from the Philippines.

I am a nurse by profession. I finished a 4-year degree course of BSc Nursing in a university in Cebu, Philippines in 2008.

I taught English to children and young adults from east Asia shortly after graduating due to lack of job opportunities for nurses in my country. I worked for an online teaching company for over a year between 2008 and 2010, and at the same time, I also had private one-to-one lessons.

I moved to England in 2011 to work there as a nurse when I was 23, and I lived there for 9 years. As a requirement of nursing employment, I took the IELTS exam with an overall band score of 8, a very good proficiency level of English. I studied and completed nurse-relevant courses to attain career progression in 3 different UK universities. These included BSc International Nursing in University of Hertfordshire, Overseas Nurses Programme in University of West London, and Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy in Canterbury Christchurch University.

Other than looking after patients, my job as a nurse always involves learning and teaching. I work with student nurses, doctors and other colleagues of the healthcare field to mentor them in their learning, I write essays for my courses at university, we constantly have to complete various trainings and in-house teachings for competency updates, and also attend seminars regarding our work.

I moved to Malaga just this year with my husband, and due to current circumstances, I'm unable to work yet in Spain as a nurse pending documents validation and a Spanish language competency.

I've started learning Spanish just this March and it's still quite basic, but I do have a native level of English. I have obtained a qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language or TEFL two years ago.

On my free time, I like to read books and write poems and short stories, play the piano, and do yoga and meditation. I also love spending time with our dog Bobo.
